Update: According to a variety of sources this picture is in fact a fake. Consider me duped.
Warner Bros has released an additional photo of Anne Hathaway in what is presumably the Catwoman costume. It’s an interesting costume for a burglar, but not necessarily what I would expect from Catwoman. Catwoman’s costume exudes sexiness and this doesn’t really help to do that. And the goggles confuse me… I’m really hoping its not a permanent thing. But I’m going to trust Christopher Nolan not to let me down. Check out the picture below.

Hot on the heels of the reveal of Henry Cavill in costume as Superman Warner Bros has followed up with the first image of Anne Hathaway in costume as Catwoman. Don’t worry, I am not violating me pledge for going spoiler free on The Dark Knight Rises. This image was released on the official site for the newest Batman movie.
As for the picture it doesn’t give away too much. I find it interesting that Selina Kyle is riding the batpod and it looks to be indoors. Maybe she’s stealing it from Batman? It would be in character seeing as she is a thief. The goggles are interesting as well. In the comics Catwoman has periodically worn goggles but never anything as technologically fancy as we see in this picture. Maybe they are only for use during heists to help see security tripwires or something like that. Based on the previous Christopher Nolan films I really don’t see these goggles being a permanent part of the costume. I think it will be a temporary thing much like Batman’s sonar vision in The Dark Knight.
I’m sure some people will complain because the Catwoman costume is not skin-tight like in the comics. But bear in mind Nolan tries to make his movies have an element of realism and it wouldn’t make much sense for a cat burglar to wear a skin-tight suit. A utility suit like this makes sense so that tools could be carried easily. Also, there is one last thing to consider. This might not be the final Catwoman costume and instead a version worn early in the film that will then evolve. One thing is for sure its fun to start seeing news about The Dark Knight Rises that isn’t spoilers.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve indulged in spoilers and luckily I’ve not been burned too badly by them. But today I came to a realization. Simply put, I realized if I wasn’t careful spoilers were going to ruin The Dark Knight Rises for me. For those that haven’t seen it yet there were a ton of pictures taken by fans during filming for the movie in Pittsburgh.
Without going into detail these pictures gave a full on view of Bane in costume as he fought the Batman. That doesn’t sound bad right? But the problem is I rather hate the costume chosen for Bane. Or at least I hate the costume I have seen so far, before any post production editing is done. I’m sure Christopher Nolan will be tweaking things in post-production but instead I’m letting pictures taken by a fan with their cell phone influence my option.
I’m sure people are thinking ‘Chris, you hypocrite! You crapped all over the new Spidey costume based on spoilers pictures.’ My response, I did and I was proven right the new Spider-Man costume is terrible; even in the finished state showcased in the trailer. The difference is I trust Christopher Nolan to make Bane awesome despite the changes to the traditional costume. I didn’t trust Marc Webb to do the same with Spidey.
Christopher Nolan’s Batman films have been fantastic and I trust him to bring his incredible vision of Batman to the big screen. And I refuse to let spoilers ruin that for me. Starting today I will be going spoiler free on The Dark Knight Rises. I do not want stolen pictures or blurry cam shots to ruin this movie for me. Starting today I am going spoiler free on everything related to The Dark Knight Rises. I won’t read anything tagged with spoilers and I won’t post anything outside of my own speculation and any information released via Warner Brothers to promote the movie.
I really would encourage others to do the same. If not for The Dark Knight Rises try it with another movie that you are waiting on pins and needles for. Try and think of the last time you went and saw a comic book movie or SciFi epic without being even slightly spoiled. I bet its hard to remember, I know I struggled to come up with a response. The last one I can think of is Spider-Man 2; I knew nothing outside of the trailers going in and it was quite possibly the best comic book movie I have seen. I tried to remain spoiler free for the Star Wars Episode III and 2 days before the movie one of my friends spoiled the crap out of me. To this day I still regret caving and actually paying attention to the spoilers.
The internet is full of fanboys that are willing to crap all over something based on spoilers and blurry pictures taken on set. I refuse to be one of those fanboys… for at least a few movies. I can’t give it up completely! Movies like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises are ones I will no longer let myself be spoiled on.
To be honest I think not being spoiled will make the movie experience much better when I finally get to see it. Am I crazy to go spoiler free for these blockbusters? Better yet will I be able to stand by my pledge to remain spoiler free? I certainly intend to do everything in my power to not be spoiled. As for my readers I would encourage you to give it a try to go into a movie un-spoiled. You might be surprised just how much more fun it is. If you decide to try to go spoiler-free please let me know how it goes. I might need a support group to keep my from caving and reading spoilers.

We’ve been lacking in some solid news in regards to Christopher Nolan’s third Batman movie entitled The Dark Knight Rises, but now we’ve gotten something solid. Late yesterday the teaser poster for the new movie was released. Is it just me or does it have a very Inception-like look?

The last Batman movie, The Dark Knight, became well known for making use of viral marketing to gain and keep fan interest in the movie. It stands to reason they would do the same thing for the third Batman movie by Christopher Nolan. Last week the viral marketing began and astute fans were able to find the first image of Bane. This was found via a Twitter account entitled TheFireRises.
Recently a YouTube user has appeared with the same name and begun uploading videos that look to be from the new Batman movie. I for one love the fact that the viral marketing campaign has already started. Just imagine what they will do for Comic Con this year! The YouTube videos are shown below, enjoy your first look at The Dark Knight Rises. These videos seem to hint at another outbreak from Arkham. Sound familiar from any of the comics?

The folks over at Super Hero Hype have been all over this, so credit for this find goes completely to them. It seems as though the viral marketing for Christopher Nolan’s final Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises has already started. If you remember the viral marketing that was used to hype The Dark Knight set in place new ways to advertise a movie. I’m very curious to see how they are able to use viral methods to hype the new movie.
Some posters over on the SHH boards have started digging into the official movie site for The Dark Knight Rises and they’ve found some very interesting details that were used to find the first image of Tom Hardy in costume as Bane. If you’re interested in the methods used to find the image check out the SHH article. I don’t want to steal their information on how they found it as they deserve all the credit for this find.
The best part is this seems to be an official, i.e. real, image of Bane that was purposely placed on the movie web-site. As such, I have no problem presenting it on this site. I have to admit, the image does seem to pull a lot of inspiration from the comics. There could be a lot of interesting back story to describe how Bane’s spine became so scarred. Its starting to look like scars are becoming the go to thing for a badguy in Nolan’s Bat movies. If this is the look of Bane in the movie, I am happy. Be sure to click on the image below for the super high res version.

Well I’ve decided I’m going to continue with topics about The Dark Knight Rises. Below is a fan made trailer for the movie by Christopher Nolan. Obviously there are no clips from the movie since it hasn’t even begun filming yet. But, this movie is still worth a look.
Enjoy it, and have a great weekend!

Reports are hitting the internet that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in negotiations to have a role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Batman film. This shouldn’t be surprising since Nolan likes to cast actors he has worked with before. Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a role in Inception just like Tom Hardy and now both will be in The Dark Knight Rises.
I like the casting of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, mostly because he is a great actor. But now the question is, who will he play? Before Bane was announced as the villain for the movie I was really hoping JGL would play the Riddler in the new Batman movie. As much as I would love to see that, I’m not sure how well Riddler would mesh with Bane. One thing is for sure, I will keep checking to see who JGL will be playing in The Dark Knight Rises.

Warner Brothers issued a press release today giving some casting news for the 3rd Christopher Nolan Batman film entitles The Dark Knight Rises. Tom Hardy will be added to the cast playing the role of Bane. Bane is famously known for discovering Batman’s identity and then breaking Batman’s back in the 90s story-arc Knightfall. I doubt that is what will happen in the 3rd movie, but Bane has the potential to challenge the Dark Knight both physically and mentally. Tom Hardy played a big role in Nolan’s last film Inception. I am one of about 4 people who still haven’t seen the movie so I can’t really comment on his work in Inception. Credit for the Tom Hardy/Bane graphic goes to the folks over at Comic Book Movie.com.
The other news is that Anne Hathaway has been cast to play the role of Selina Kyle. Please note that I wrote Selina Kyle and not Catwoman. The press-release is very specific to not call her Catwoman. It’s entirely possible that this film could end without Selina donning the trademark costume of Catwoman. However, since this is Nolan’s last Batman film I find that unlikely. I imagine the press-release is worded specifically to encourage speculation by the ravenous fanboys. As for the casting of Anne Hathaway, it’s not what I was expecting when I heard that other actresses such as Keira Knightly and Rachel Weisz were in the running for the female lead. I’m not disappointed, just surprised.
I fully admit I was hoping for The Riddler to be the main villain of the last Batman movie, but I trust Christopher Nolan to make another fantastic movie. I’m not a big fan of Bane but I imagine Nolan’s take will keep him interesting and grounded in reality like the rest of Nolan’s Batman. Below, is the press-release that came from Warner Bros earlier today.
BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”
In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.
“The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

British newspaper The Sun is reporting that Megan Fox has signed on to play the role of Catwoman in the newest Batman film, set to be the sequel to the hit movie The Dark Knight. Personally, I don’t believe this for three reasons. First and most importantly, Christopher Nolan hasn’t even signed on to do a 3rd Batman film. Without a director onboard, specifically Nolan, I really doubt that any casting decisions have been made. Also, The Sun is the same paper that reported Eddie Murphy had been cast as The Riddler last year! That didn’t even come close to happening so I have my doubts this bit of ‘news’ is true. Finally, the Batman films done by Nolan have cast people who can actually act. Megan Fox might be hot, but I’ve yet to see her flex her acting chops in any of her movies. Her parts so far have consisted of looking hot and running in slow motion. Until we see her in a dramatic role I really doubt she would be considered for Batman 3. However, sex sells so who knows. But at the very least a Megan Fox Catwoman would probably be better than Halle Berry!
The Sun is also reporting another rumor that shooting for Batman 3 will definitely start next year with a planned 2011 release date in theaters. However, this isn’t the first time the rumor has hit the web that Batman 3 would begin shooting in 2010. Gary Oldman hinted at a 2010 filming date for Batman 3 at the San Diego Comic Con during a panel for The Book of Eli. Oldman was quoted as saying:
“The next Batman is next year, so I think it is two years away. But you didn’t hear it from me.”
After making this statment Oldman then retracted his comments. Thats the closest we’ve gotten to official confirmation that Batman 3 will begin filming soon and it doesn’t seem too hopefuly. That’s not to say it won’t start filming in 2010, but it seems really unlikely.
