A creative YouTube video maker has created a video remaking the opening credits for Batman The Animated Series using footage from Batman Arkham Asylum/City. It looks really good.

DC Direct released some pretty awesome looking action figures to tie in with the game Batman Arkham Asylum, and it looks like they will be doing the same with the upcoming sequel Batman Arkham City. Just like last time, these figures look really good. I’ve taken to hanging action figures on the wall in my home office to add an extra nerdy flair, and I think I’ll be adding at least one of these figures to my wall.
From left to right you have Harley Quinn as she appears in the game, Bruce Wayne as Batman unmasked, and Tim Drake in his in-game version of the Robin costume. All three figures look great, but I think I’ll be looking to add the Bruce Wayne figure to my collection. The fact that he’s holding one of the Bat-gadgets just makes the figure look even cooler. Anyone else looking at getting some of these figures?

The developers of Batman Arkham City have already unveiled the multiple Batman costumes that will be available to players, but now its time to show what options there will be for Robin. Robin is a playable character for challenge maps and will be available on launch day to those that pre-order Batman Arkham City from Best Buy. That’s where I pre-ordered because I wanted to have the playable Robin now instead of paying for it as DLC 6 months from now.
From left to right you have Red Robin, Arkham City Robin, and Robin from Batman The Animated Series (TAS). Personally I think the Red Robin costume looks the best. There’s something just creepy about TAS Robin that doesn’t seem to fit in with the look of Batman Arkham City. As of right now I have no clue if these skins will be available on day 1 or if they will need unlocked by beating certain challenge maps. However, I do know that I will be using Robin as a playable character on launch day.

I was a big fan of Batman: Arkham Asylum when it was released a couple of years ago. It goes without saying that I’ve been becoming steadily more excited about the pending release of Batman: Arkham City. The game is set to release on October 18 in the US and pre-orders are being accepted now. I just put in my pre-order the other day.
It seems that many vendors are offering pre-order bonuses for games nowadays. For example in the US Best Buy is giving folks who pre-order a code for Robin as DLC character in Batman: Arkham City. To be honest, that’s why I pre-ordered from Best Buy; I wanted to have Robin as a playable character. Other stores are providing DLC codes with pre-orders that allow for players to have unique skins that can be used within the game.
Until recently the custom skins for Arkham City had not been released. But, our friends in the UK have gotten the scoop on the Batman skins available in the new game. This also includes the specific stores and their exclusive game skin.
Pictured above are the unique in-game skins available in Batman: Arkham City. From left to right we have costumes from: Batman Beyond, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Earth One, 1970’s Neal Adams batman, Batman The Animated Series, and finally the costume from Arkham City. If I had to choose one of those pre-order bonuses I’d be going with Batman Beyond. But then again I am a huge fan of Batman Beyond. Keep your eyes peeled to see which Batman costumes are unique to which stores in the US. That hasn’t been announced yet!
I wouldn’t worry too much if you are interested in more than one of these costumes. Since it is all DLC I’m sure they will make it available for download within a year.

I didn’t watch the VGAs myself. But it seems as though there were lots of good game announcements that came out of it. We’re going to take you through a couple of the trailers that we’re excited about. We’ll embed YouTube videos of what we can, however the game title will also contain a link that should be active to the trailers at other sites.
Mass Effect 2: I’ll be honest, the trailer is a little bland, but it does set things up pretty nicely for showing the grand scale of Mass Effect 2. Plus, it also doesn’t hurt to have Martin Sheen as one of your voice actors. This trailer makes it look like Commander Sheppard is a pawn in something that is much larger than he is. We’ll have to see how this turns out, but I’m not sure I can hold out much longer for this game.
Batman Arkham Asylum 2: We’ve posted before about our love for the first game. There’s no reason to expect that the sequel won’t be just as good. I have to say I love The Dark Knight-esque music they’ve put in the trailer. Makes seems alot more like the gritty world shown in the latest Batman movies. Also, it looks like the Joker is still recovering from the beating he received at the end of the first game as noted by IV that seems to be running fresh blood into his system.
There are no YouTube links that are active or allow embedding so check out the GameTrailers link above. I lied there is an active video on YouTube now.
Halo Reach: As a huge fan of Halo I have to say I’m a mixed bag on this new game. I loved the original 3 Halo games it just seems like now Bungie is trying to use the Halo name to put out a few more games before moving on. ODST was fun, but it didn’t feel as fun as the previous Halo games. Reach takes place before the original 3 Halo games. In the books Reach was falling as the Master Chief departed and headed towards the first Halo ring. Personally, I’m most excited about being a Spartan again.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands: The Prince from the first games is back for this new game. And it looks like the ability to control time is in place again. Thats something I really missed after the last game. I’m not a huge Prince of Persia fan, but I’ll play at some point.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II: Can’t forget this game. See our earlier coverage for more!
Those are the big games that will be coming out next year. Is anyone else drooling as much as me?

We’ve got some news for all you Arkham Asylum fans. I’ve played the game a lot and on my first pass have completed the single player mode and about 70% of the Riddler challenges. I haven’t played a lot of the challenges yet, but I’ve played around with them a bit and had fun.
I did get the chance to play as the Joker on my friend’s PS3 and I have to say it was pretty fun. Joker’s moves are quick and quirky. Most of his takedowns and throws are hilarious too. But now, onto the news.
Batman Arkham Asylum has been awarded a Guinness World Record for “Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever.” The press release states:
Batman: Arkham Asylum has been given top scores across the board from National newspapers and specialist game reviewers. The game has broken the Guinness World Record in this category by achieving the highest average score of 91.67 from reviews around the world.
Congrats to Arkham Asylum on that honor, however this is what I think is the bigger news. Eidos is planning two free downloadable content packs for Arkham Asylum in the next couple weeks. Yes, you read that right, its free. next week’s free DLC will be entitled “Insane Night.” “Prey in the Darkness” will follow one week later, on September 24th. So stay tuned, this is going to be good.

If you all hadn’t heard the Batman Arkham Asylum demo went live last week for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. I’ve played it on my 360 and it cemented the fact that I was preordering my copy of the game. Its a lot of fun and seems a lot like a blend of Splinter Cell and something I can’t quite put my finger on.
Amazon is running a deal right now where the game is $53.49. With a coupon code entered at checkout the game is an additional 5 bucks off. The code is 5OFFARKM. If you’re interested in preordering the game this would be the way to do it. Get it for cheap and have it delivered right to your door. There’s no need to go searching when it drops on August 25. I wouldn’t recommend it unless I had done the same.
And just to whet your appetite a bit more we’ll leave you with one of the trailers for the game. Enjoy!
