Tron Legacy + Star Wars = Geekwood

This is too cool to not share.  Someone has done a phenomenal job making a fan trailer for a Star Wars and Tron Legacy mash up.  They took the audio from one the Tron Legacy trailers and added scenes from all the Star Wars movies, and it all came together surprisingly well.

That is freaking awesome…expect the MPAA to issue a DCMA take-down notice by the end of tomorrow.

Remember the Expendables, Call to Arms trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIZTgUxVa28). The MPAA put out a take-down on the original cut because it used the green “THE FOLLOWING PREVIEW HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR…” banner at the beginning, just like this fan trailer. (REF: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2010/07/lionsgate-expendables-fan-trailer-mpaa-taken-down.html). The Monocular Group was able to repost their trailer with no issue once the green banner was changed.

That would be nuts if they took this trailer down for the MPAA banner. Guess we’ll have to adopt the look and see approach.

I dunno. As much as the MPAA has a bad rap on take-downs to keep profitable content under their control, I think they are well within rights to insist that fan-made trailers like this don’t use the green MPAA banner. After all, it claims approval and regulation from the MPAA when there isn’t any.
I just hope that, like the Call To Arms trailer, they only issue a take-down and a warning. It would be easy enough to edit the banner out and then repost the clip.
