Andrew Garfield in Costume as Spider-Man

Well Sony Pictures released the first picture of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in the upcoming movie reboot.  To be honest, I really don’t like this take on the Spider-Man costume.  They took the ‘scales’ from the first movie costume and amplified them and muted the classic red and blue colors it seems.  The costume to me just seems too grainy and seems to be missing some of the classic pieces specifically the red web pattern that goes around the waist.

The plus side with this costume is that if you look at the wrists, it does seem like there is a small bulge to indicate the web-shooters.  I do also like the fact that they have kept Spidey skinny and almost scrawny like he was originally in the comics.  I think that’s an interesting way to portray the character in the movie.  I really didn’t like the costume used in the first Spidey movies but it grew on me.  Maybe it will happen with this costume, but I’m doubting it right now.  Maybe I’m just too used to the classic costume.  The Raimi movies used a costume very close to the comic version with a couple tweaks such as the ‘scale’ effect and raised webbing pattern.  This just seems a little too much like a departure from the classic.  What do you all think of the new Spider-Man costume?

I just hope this movie does not suck because I am not expecting much in it.
